What We Do


Canvasback's Ongoing Programs Meet Overwhelming Needs:


One of Canvasback's medical volunteers, orthopedic surgeon Bob Wells from Portland, OR, has provided compassionate care to hundreds of needy islanders.

Outer Island Clinics:

Primary health care and dentistry, health education classes, child immunizations, plus training to upgrade skills and empower local health workers to better care for their people.

Relief Ministry:

Acquisition, packaging and shipping of needed medicines, supplies and equipment to hospitals and outer island dispensaries.

Specialty Teams:

Teams of specialists fly in to provide training, consultation and surgeries in hospitals where such services are unavailable. Specialties include ophthalmology, orthopedics, E.N.T., ob/gyn, and urology.

Diabetes Wellness Program:

Development and implementation of a diabetes reversal and lifestyle change program for the Marshall Islands, where more than half the adult population suffers from diabetes.

Canvasback Youth Extreme:

Teams of youth learning from building and evangelistic outreach

 

Canvasback Has...

  • provided the first outside mobile medical services to relieve pain and suffering
  • completed more than 52,300 patient exams and 30,587 dental procedures in the Marshall islands and the Federated States of Micronesia...
  • given more than $23.6 million in compassionate medical and dental services, health education and relief supplies to needy Pacific Islanders.
  • coordinated specialty teams in cataract, retinopathy, orthopedic, and ENT surgery, continuing education and diabetes reversal programs valued at more than $3 million.
