Overwhelming Donor Response helped us Maximize Matson's Gift

Matson, Inc. and Kyowa Shipping Co., Ltd. are shipping our 40-ft. container to Majuro at this moment.

At the end of last year, the shipping company Matson, Inc. generously donated a 20-ft. shipping container to us. We could fill it with whatever supplies we wanted, and they would ship it all the way to Majuro, Marshall Islands for free! Our Wellness Center on Majuro was in need of new equipment, but shipping such heavy appliances—refrigerators, stove, home gym—across the Pacific would have been difficult for us to afford.

Since we had an entire shipping container to fill, we decided to maximize its value. We wanted to fill all 20 feet to the brim with exercise equipment, medical supplies, kitchen appliances, and gardening tools. So many goods would make a huge impact on Majuro, allowing us to further our health programs and reach even more people.

We sent out a frantic email asking if our donors could help in any way. We asked for donations of any of the supplies listed above, and we gave people—just before Christmas, when people are busiest—only two weeks to give them to us.

The response was overwhelming. People called and emailed and drove to our office to drop off supplies for us to ship to Majuro. People made large financial gifts and donated everything from hospital furniture to shovels to generators. We received so much equipment that we couldn't fit it into a 20-ft. container anymore. We ended up loading and shipping out a 40-ft. container of goods!

We were excited for the first donation, an empty 20-ft. shipping container, not expecting God to touch hearts and multiply that gift into a 40-ft. shipping container filled with supplies that will improve our Wellness Center and help thousands in Micronesia improve their health. At this moment, Matson, Inc. and Kyowa Shipping Co., Ltd. are moving those goods toward Majuro.

This would not have been possible without your overwhelming generosity. It was your support and giving that made this possible. Thank you for promptly stepping in to make a difference in Micronesia.
